The training is offered to Yoga Teachers. The course is considered a practitioner-level training. It will not qualify you as a Yoga Therapist but it will deepen your knowledge to answering to individual students’ needs and pathologies, empowering you in particular to work in a one-on-one capacity in private classes.

The course introduces the systems of Anatomist Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains), Methode-Busquet about the muscular chains and Shirley Sahrmann to understand and work with energy pathways, movement impairment syndromes and postural abnormalities.

It draws, in addition, on the knowledge of naturopathy and Ayurveda, a sister practice of yoga, to explore approaches to working with people with ten different common pathologies including Asthma, Depression and Anxiety, Hypertension, Diabetes, Cardiopathology and Thyroid disorders.

To take place over 2 weekends (9-10 June and 28-29 July 2018) and 15 weekly theory sessions on Skype, the course will also require self-study and research as well as the exploration of 30 case studies. On completion you will receive an 80 hours training for Practitioner level and Yoga Alliance Continued Education certificate.

Why we do this? we need volunteers:Ahim’SA is a non-profit organisation based in Hout Bay, which works to bring the power of yoga to disadvantaged communities to promote non-violence and living togetherness. Sylvain is volunteering and offering the training for the benefit of the organisation.
